Facial Rejuvenation

Facial Rejuvenation

In our practice we see patients with all skin types, these can range from the fairest white to dark black. With experience and proper skin testing we are able to match the best treatment for your particular skin type and depth of the skin problem that you are trying to correct.

The first thing we judge is skin type using a standard dermatologic scale called the Fitzpatrick Classification:

Type I Always burns in the sun but never tans

Type II Usually burns and tans with difficulty

Type III May burn mildly but gets an average tan

Type IV Moderately brown skin which tans easily

Type V Darker brown complexion, tan easily

Type VI Black Skin

When considering a skin rejuvenation procedure the patient must decide how dramatic of an effect they are looking for and how much time that they are prepared to commit to get that result. The key is to match the problem with the proper treatment. Superficial problems only need a superficial treatment. On the other hand, a patient with severely photo damaged skin seeking a dramatic result must be willing to devote time and effort to obtain the best result.

Level I

Retin-A

Renova

Kinerase

Glycolic Acid Products

These are superficial treatments that can be done at home. With diligence and attention to detail some results will be noted.

Level II

Professionally applied Glycolic Acid Peels

Professionally applied Beta Hydroxy Acid Peels

Jessner's Peel

PrimaPeel — Medical Microdermabrasion

These are epidermal peels. These are not intended to go deep into the skin or dermal layer. Microdermabrasion is the newest element of this level of treatment. It is good for simpler types of skin problems. It is similar to a miniature sand blaster. There is a small handpiece that forces out fine particles of powder against the skin. This in effect blasts of the outer layers of skin. This microdermabrasion causes a light abrasion and can be done in an hour or less.

Level III

Trichloroacetic Acid

This peel penetrates into the dermis and is a good option for skin types I-IV. This peel is applied by our paramedical aestheticians. The TCA peel is unique in that we are able to "read" the depth of the peel by the degree of skin frosting after the application of the chemical.

Level IV

Laser Resurfacing

This gives a more dramatic result because it penetrates deeper into the skin. A good candidate has severely sun-damaged skin with a lighter skin type. The laser does have some drawbacks such as a noticeably red complexion for several weeks but the results in the properly selected patient are worth it.

Deciding what is right for you

We offer a free skin care consultation with our skin care specialist at Primaworx MediSpa. During this consultation you will discuss your goals and current skin care regimen. Specific recommendations will then be made to help you achieve your desired result.
