Dr. Mike Song grew up near Savannah, GA. He graduated with honors from Harvard College, and obtained his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine. After completion of medical school, he completed a full seven year residency in general surgery at Stanford Hospital where he served as administrative chief resident and garnered numerous professional awards. During his general surgery training, he spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Michael Longaker’s plastic surgery research laboratory, dedicating fulltime research in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery. After his general surgery training, he completed a three year comprehensive plastic and reconstructive surgical fellowship at Emory Hospital. Dr. Song offers the full spectrum of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the head, neck, trunk, and extremities. He has a special interest in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery including difficult revisional aesthetic breast cases and breast reconstruction following mastectomy for breast cancer. He also has interest in body contouring after massive weight loss, rejuvenation of the face and eyelids and microsurgical techniques with free tissue transfer.
Dr. Song is double board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He has published over fifty articles in the fields of general and plastic surgery. He has co-authored several book chapters including chapters on breast reconstruction and the abdomen. Over the years, he has been invited to present his work at multiple national meetings including the American College of Surgeons Surgical Forum and the Annual Meeting of the Plastic Surgery Research Council. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The Jurkiewicz Society, and the Harvard Club of Georgia. Dr. Song’s current hospital staff memberships include Gwinnett Medical Center, Emory Johns Creek Hospital, and Eastside Hospital.
