Liposuction | Tummy Tuck | Arm Lift | Buttock Lift | Thigh Lift | Post Weight Loss
Liposuction is a surgical procedure for removing localized deposits of subcutaneous fat. Liposuction has increased in popularity due to the simplicity of the technique and the fact that it can be done through small incisions. The ideal candidate for this surgery is a person who has maintained their weight by diet and exercise but has contour irregularities that are resistant. Our doctor’s expertise is the most valuable resource to help you understand the benefits of the surgery, your options and outcome every step of the way.
Liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures in the United States. The basic technique involves the localized removal of unwanted fat deposits from specific areas of the body. This is fat that is located between the skin and the muscle. This is considered to be a sculpturing procedure designed to re-contour the body. The liposuction procedure does not tighten the skin although at times it may seem tighter due to the pull from the surrounding tissues.
Tumescent Liposuction — this is the most commonly used liposuction technique. This technique involves the introduction of a fluid solution into the fatty layer prior to suctioning. This fluid contains normal saline, local anesthetics (Lidocaine) and epinephrine (a vasoconstrictor). This fluid is injected into the fatty layer until it is tense and firm. This method makes the liposuction surgery more accurate along with decreasing bleeding and pain.
Regardless of the type of liposuction done, the method is similar in most cases. A small 1/8 inch incision is made and the fat is removed by the use of small metal tubes called cannulas. Different sized tubes may be used in various body areas. The surgical procedure is usually done either under general anesthesia. The procedure can be done either in our office operating room or in the outpatient area of the hospital.
